The Citizenship Amendment Act was introduced to grant Indian citizenship to non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.CAAThere is a lot of discussion about not including Muslims in ). Many people have raised questions as to why Muslims were not brought into it. Islamic scholar Sajid Rashidi also raised questions about this and also asked whether the government guarantees that there will be no Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agents among the people migrating from Pakistan.
Sajid Rashidi asked this question in an ongoing TV debate on CAA. In response to this, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that where the word Muslim is not written anywhere, they are seeing that they are being discriminated against. He also said that Muslims are not safe in Nizam-e-Mustafa’s Pakistan, they are safe in India.
Sudhanshu Trivedi said, ‘These people see this as a religious issue. Where the word Muslim is not written anywhere, they see that Muslims are being discriminated against. Hey brother, the word Muslim is not written anywhere in it. Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian are written in it. Secondly, why is that? I want to tell you that also. If we look at these three-four countries, we are secular countries, hence one of the criteria of secularism is that we should give shelter to the oppressed communities in these countries in our country.
Sudhanshu Trivedi further said, ‘Secular is the touchstone of India, that is why we have chosen this secular path. Still, if they feel that Muslims should also be included then I want to say that once openly say that Muslims are not safe under the Nizam-e-Mustafa rule of Pakistan. We are safe in Modi’s India. First of all we will say that Muslims feel scared in India. Now they will say come in CAA. My brother, please clear your stand that if Nizam-e-Mustafa is safer here then we will consider.
